Pendekezo Letu is a community-driven organization committed to advancing the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of children and vulnerable populations. Rooted in a strong belief that every child deserves protection, opportunity, and a voice, we work collaboratively with communities, government, and partners to address systemic challenges affecting children. Our approach combines advocacy, direct service delivery, and capacity strengthening to create sustainable, child-centered solutions that respond to the realities on the ground.
Through our programs, we focus on child protection, access to justice, and sustainable livelihoods, ensuring that children and their families are supported holistically. We empower communities with knowledge and skills, strengthen systems that protect children, and champion policies that promote equity and inclusion. By placing children at the center of our work, Pendekezo Letu continues to drive meaningful change and build safer, more resilient communities.

A society where marginalized children and youth enjoy a dignified life
Safeguarding is at the core of Pendekezo Letu’s work and commitment to protecting the dignity, rights, and wellbeing of every child and vulnerable individual we serve. We maintain a zero-tolerance approach to abuse, exploitation, and neglect, supported by clear safeguarding policies, reporting mechanisms, and accountability structures across all programs. Our staff, partners, and community actors are regularly trained on child protection and ethical conduct to ensure safe, respectful engagement at all times. Through continuous risk assessment, awareness creation, and community involvement, PKL works to create environments where children and vulnerable populations are protected, heard, and able to thrive safely.
Advocacy is a core pillar of Pendekezo Letu’s work, driven by our commitment to strengthen systems, policies, and practices that protect and promote the rights of vulnerable children and youth. We actively engage in influencing child protection, justice, and social welfare frameworks at community, county, national, and international levels to ensure that the voices of marginalized children are heard and acted upon. Through evidence-based programming, strategic partnerships, and participation in policy platforms, PKL works to address structural barriers, improve service delivery, and advance accountability for child rights and social justice.
Climate change adaptation is an emerging cross-cutting priority in Pendekezo Letu’s work, recognizing that marginalized children, youth, and families are disproportionately affected by climate-related shocks such as floods, droughts, and resource scarcity. We integrate climate awareness and resilience-building into our community programs by promoting sustainable livelihoods, environmental stewardship, and adaptive coping strategies within households and communities. Through partnerships, awareness creation, and community-led action, PKL supports local capacity to anticipate and respond to climate risks while strengthening long-term resilience in informal settlements and marginalized areas.
We work closely with government agencies, community organizations, and networks to strengthen child protection systems and advance access to justice for vulnerable children.
